Hello! My name is Laura. I have made Washington Island, Wisconsin my home since 1980 when I met my husband, who happens to be a 5th generation native Islander. I have dedicated the last 22 years to raising our three children who are now all "almost grown up". Our youngest has autism and we as a family have been helping him be the best he can be for the last 16 years.

I studied Design with an emphasis in Jewelry and Metalsmithing at the University of Kansas from 1977-1980. I am inspired by nature, balance, color and the challenge of working with metal and color. By using techniques such as soldering, smithing (hammering), cutting and piercing, patinating copper and incorporatng gemstones, my work encompasses a love of the creative spirit and accentuating a person’s own intrinsic beauty. In 1986 I opened my first jewelry shop and have been creating jewelry off and on since then. I feel a deep connection to the creative process and it keeps me happy and healthy in my everyday life.
